Greg S. Townley, 56, of Taylor Ridge, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.
Services are 10 a.m. Monday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Rock Island. Visitation will be 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
Greg was born Nov. 6, 1948, in Rock Island, son of Wagner and Wilma Crutcher Townley. He married Cynthia "Cindy" Irwin Sept. 9, 1972, in Moline.
He was a bridge operator for Rock Island Integrated Services since 1987. He also enjoyed doing custom farming for relatives and friends in the Edgington area. Previously, he had been employed at International Harvester, Farmall Works, Rock Island.
Greg was a member and volunteer fireman for the Andalusia Fire Protection District. He was an active supporter of the Milan Area Girls' Softball League. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and the family dog, Twitch.
Surviving are his wife, Cindy, Taylor Ridge; children (and spouse), Angela (Tom) Gross, Peoria, Ill., Kim Townley and Laura Townley (fiance Chad Hoover), both Taylor Ridge; parents, Wagner and Wilma Townley, Taylor Ridge; sister, Valerie Varner, Largo, Fla.; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Donna Irwin, East Moline.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and a son, Thomas.
