Jeffrey 'Bako' McBride


Jeffrey Kent "Bako" McBride, 55, of Andalusia, formerly of Rock Island, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island.

Memorial services will be 5 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, at the Andalusia Lions Club, with the Rev. Dan Wright officiating.  In accordance with his wishes, his body has been cremated.  Hodgson Funeral Home, Rock Island, is handling arrangements.  Memorials may be made to the Andalusia Lions Club.

He was born Dec. 10, 1948, in Davenport, the son of Myron Kenneth and Helen Virginia Schnitger McBride.

Jeffrey was a veteran of Vietnam, having served with the Air Force.  He worked at Brad's Auto & Truck Parts, Viola.  He had previously worked at Poell's Enterprises in DeWitt, Iowa, and E & J Auto & Truck Parts, Rock Island.

He was a member of the Andalusia Lions Club and was very active in Andalusia community events.  He was an avid Illini and St. Louis Cardinals fan, and enjoyed watching NASCAR.  He was a good friend, a good brother and will be missed by many.

Survivors (and spouses) are his sister, Melissa (Thomas) DeVolder, Moline; brother, Michael (Jan) McBride, Geneseo; nieces, Amanda and Jessica DeVolder, Moline; nephews, Brian (Deb) Kendrick, Florida, Jason (Patti) Kendrick, Minnesota, and Colin McBride, Westmont, Ill.; great-nieces, Erin and Charlotte Kendrick. He was preceded in death by his parents.
