Larry Walter Lenger, 65, of Milan, died on Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 19, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 312 W. 1st St., Milan. A rosary service will be held at 3:30 p.m. with a visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, with military honors provided by Moline American Legion Post No. 246. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.
Larry was born on Nov. 7, 1948, in Moline, the son of Elmer and Elma Ray Lenger. He married Audrey Kerr on June 26, 1971, in Muscatine, Iowa.
Larry served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1969-1971, and later joined the Illinois National Guard. He worked various duties for John Deere Davenport Works. Larry was an avid bowler, even having bowled a 300 game. Larry was a huge Price is Right fan, enjoyed going to the Legion, loved music and was a city farmer. More than anything, Larry loved his time spent with his family and grandkids.
Survivors include the love of his life, his wife, Audrey; daughter, Melissa (Adam) Ernat, Sherrard; son, Jason Lenger, Milan; grandchildren, Landen and Abi Ernat, Samantha Lenger; brothers, Bob Lenger, Rock Island, and Jerry Lenger, Garner, N.C.; sisters, Barb Cummings, Wheaton, Ill., and Carol (Ned) Siebel, Mesa, Ariz.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
