Timothy E. Lage, 75, of Rock Island, Illinois, died Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at home.
Private family services will take place immediately followed by cremation at Trimble Crematory, Moline, under the direction of Trimble Funeral Home. Private burial is in Galva Cemetery, Galva, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the Galva Public Library.
Timothy Edward Lage was born May 26, 1948, in Rock Island, the son of Marvin and Betty (Wheeler) Lage. He graduated from Rock Island High School in 1966 and went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He went on to marry the love of his life, Sarah (Johnson) Nelson, on May 26, 1981, in Rock Island.
Tim worked for Rock Island Lines and the Canadian Pacific Railroad, retiring in 2010. He enjoyed woodworking, making furniture for his home and was especially proud of the cedar chests he made for his son and grandchildren. One of his greatest accomplishments was building a home with his wife, Sarah, in northern Wisconsin. One of his great pleasures was when Tim and Sarah went to West Virginia and New Jersey to visit family several times a year.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Sarah; his daughter, Tina (Bill) Pepper; Sarah's children, Todd (Jeanne) Nelson and their children, Zach, Chad, and Shelby, Noelle (Jeff) Bigalk and their children, Max and Spencer, and Craig Nelson, and his children, Taylor, Aubri, Tobi, Lexi and Cooper; four great-grandchildren, Devan, Hensley, Cassius, and Francis; brother-in-law, Jim (Joyce) Johnson; sister-in-law, Rebecca (Pat) Duytschaver; siblings, Jody Sharp, Sharon, and Joe; a special aunt, Betty Wheeler; and cousins, Judy, Sunny, Kathy and James. He was preceded in death by his parents and a special uncle, Claude Wheeler.
