John H. Garrett, 59, of Moline, formerly of Rock Island, died Friday, Dec.
14, 2007, in Davenport at the home of his daughter, Haley.
Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 20, at Rafferty Funeral
Home, 2111 1st St. A, Moline. Burial will follow in National Cemetery,
Arsenal Island, with military honors accorded by American Legion Post 246,
Moline. According to his wishes, his body was cremated. A memorial fund has
been established.
John was born Dec. 3, 1948, in Rock Island, the son of Harvey and Virginia
Backus Garrett. He married Margaret Brewer Dec. 3, 1977, in Davenport.
John had been employed at Northstar Steel, Wilton, Iowa, and later at John
Deere Pavilion, Moline.
Survivors include his wife, Maggie; daughters, Haley Garrett and Kayla
Garrett, Davenport; granddaughter, Torrence Hicks; sister, Nancy Vess,
Moline; niece, Terri Ward, Rhode Island; and nephew, Marty Ward, East Moline.
