Ted Day, age 72 of Cottontown, TN, passed away May 27th, 2021 at his home surrounded by family.
He was born August 13, 1948 in Rock Island, IL to T. Earl and Susie Day. Ted graduated from Rock Island High School in 1966 and joined the U.S. Army assigned to aircraft tracking, target acquisition, and field artillery computers. His service ended with Honorable Discharge in 1969.
After the military, he furthered his education at Blackhawk College in Computer Science while being employed by IBM as Information Systems Engineer for over 9 years. His career took the family to 3 different states settling in Hendersonville, TN as MIS Director for Martha White Foods in Brentwood.
Ted enjoyed his Cubmaster duties while his sons were Cubscouts and coaching baseball while living in Kentucky. There he became an avid fan of University of Kentucky basketball. Though, his all time favorite hobby was Bass fishing. After early retirement he moved to the country where he set up a place to do woodworking and gardening. Ted and Sandra loved traveling and seeing new sites together.
Ted is sadly missed by his loving wife, Sandra of over 50 years; sons, Tyson Day and Ryan (Wendy) Day; daughter, Jennifer (Jason) Fite; and grandchildren, Chelsea Day, DeWitt and Josephine Day.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Dale Day.
Cole and Garrett of White House, TN were in charge of arrangements for cremation.
