Sharon L. Koester, 63, of Milan, died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin, Ireland.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Burial is at the National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Visitation is 9:30 a.m. until service time Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family.
Sharon Lee Davis was born Nov. 7, 1948, in Rock Island, a daughter of Clayton "Doc" and Marjorie Breen Davis. She married Gary Lee Koester on Dec. 6, 1969, in Rock Island. He died April 5, 2000.
She was a 1966 graduate of Rock Island High School and a 1967 graduate of the McConnell Airline School, Minneapolis. She worked as a travel agent for over 40 years.
Sharon was a member of Milan Christian Church. She enjoyed traveling, working in her yard, but most of all loved her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter and her partner, Sarah Koester and Marcia Moody, Henning, Ill.; son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Megan Koester, Bettendorf; four grandchildren; four adopted grandchildren; her mother, Marjorie Davis, Mission, Texas; sisters and brothers-in-law, Rebecca Phillips, Covington, Ga., Jeanette and John Tornquist, Bloomington, Ill., and Karen and Ted Arkebauer, Orion; sisters-in-law, Johanna (Tom) Boetger, Eldridge, Raelene (David) Snyder, Chattanooga, Tenn., and Karen (Richard) Anderson, Davenport; brothers-in-law, Gerald (Gail) Koester, Calamus, Iowa, and Ted Koester, Wilmington, Ohio; sister-in-law, Joann Koester, Manhattan Beach, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father and husband.
