MILAN, Ill. — Paul D. “Butch” Buser, 63, of Milan, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2011, at Trinity Rock Island.
Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Monday, August 22, 2011, at Rock Island National Cemetery, those wishing to attend should meet at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, Milan, at 11 a.m. Visitation will be Sunday, August 21, 2011, from 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the family for a fund to be determined at a later date.
Paul was born on October 16, 1947, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Henry and Gola (Vetter) Buser.
Mr. Buser was employed as a Benefits Specialist at the Rock Island Arsenal for 27 years. He was previously employed at John Deere Plow-Planter, Moline.
Paul was a graduate of Rock Island High School class of 1966. He was a Vietnam veteran, having served in the United States Navy.
Paul had been active as a coach in the Rockridge Wrestling Program for many years. He was also a member of the Reynolds American Legion Post 1166, where he served as secretary/treasurer.
Paul loved his family very much as they always came first in his life. He was a loving and devoted father and grandfather "Papa." Paul enjoyed coaching, hunting, and most of all spending every moment with his grandchildren. He had a great joy for riding his Harley and also enjoyed boating with his family.
Those left to honor Paul’s memory include his children and their spouses, Jason (Dena) Buser, Taylor Ridge, and Meredith (Aaron) Gerischer; grandchildren, Samuel and Garrett Buser and Isaac and Mya Gerischer; sisters, Phyllis (Roger) Comp and Patricia (Tom) Mathis, both of Rock Island; brother, Phil (Lori) Buser, Reading, Pa.; nieces and nephews, Mike(Becky) Comp and Chris (Cindy) Comp, both of Moline, Shannon (Brad) Lawson, Davenport, Ian (Tai) Buser, Reading, Pa., Bobbie Whitten, Milan, Cathi Mathis, Rock Island, and Kerrie (Jay) Yost, Fleetwood, Pa.; and great nieces and nephews, Katie, Abby, Liz, Emily, Bryan, Tyler, Travis, Bianca, Jackson, Hayley, Desiree, Lexi, and Madisyn. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Buser and Gola (Vetter) Buser.
