Kenneth L. Brower, 63, of Milan, died Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island, where military rites will be conducted. Memorials may be left to the American Cancer Society or in care of the family.
Ken was born Jan. 18, 1948, in Shelbina, Mo., the son of Claron and Dorothy Mason Brower. Ken was a veteran of the U.S. Army. After his time in the service, he came home and married Deborah Rosson on Dec. 18, 1971, in Rock Island.
Ken lived for sports. He was a wrestling official for 25 years. His wrestling coaching career started at Edison Junior High School before he went to Rockridge High School to coach wrestling and football.
While at Rockridge, he became the director of the Rocketfuel Wrestling Club. He also enjoyed playing golf when he was able. His favorite activity was watching his grandchildren participate in their sporting events, which he rarely missed out on.
Survivors include his wife, Deb; sons, Kenneth (Melissa) Brower II, Colona, and Kevin (Jackie) Brower, Moline; grandchildren, Jacob, Jessica, Kendra, Kody and Kole; an uncle, Bill Mason, Davenport; sisters-in-law, Barb Brower and Juanita Darin, both of Rock Island; mother-in-law, Lucille Rosson, Coal Valley; and a handful of nieces and nephews.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert and Gene Brower; and his father-in-law, Albert Rosson.
