Larry Boswell

Lawrence Z. "Boz" Boswell, Jr., 69, of Rock Island, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at his home. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Friday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, 3030 7th Ave., Rock Island. Funeral services will follow visitation at 6:00 p.m. Private inurnment will be at a later date in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in care of the family.

Lawrence was born on February 13, 1948 in Moline, a son of Lawrence Z., Sr. and Laura C. Jones Boswell. After graduating from Rock Island High School, he served his country in the U.S. Army. Boz married Jeanne M. Putnam in Las Vegas. She passed away on February 23, 2017. He retired from John Deere Harvester after over 30 years of service, most recently working in Shipping and Receiving. In his spare time, Boz enjoyed playing cards and cooking. He was also an Avid Chicago sports fan.

Left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Lauren (Stuart) Loftin, Rock Island, Cassandra Boswell, Milwaukee, WI, Dwight (Debra) Boswell, Fairfax, VA; sister in law, Betty Boswell, Davenport; nieces, Courtney Loftin, Tajah Boswell, Tammy Walker, Jennifer Anderson, Laura Lomas; niece, Tyler Loftin; nephews, Champ Boswell, Rashad Boswell, Aaron Lomas and his godson, Demarco Thornton. Also surviving are many other loving family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanne; his parents and brothers, Toby and Reginald Boswell.
