Cynthia Ann Petersmith, 58, of Cape Coral, Fla., formerly of Moline, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, in Florida.
Rite of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. Tuesday, with a wake service at 4 p.m. at Esterdahl Mortuary, 6601 38th Ave., Moline. Entombment will be in Memorial Park, Rock Island. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Cynthia was born in Rock Island on Sept. 13, 1948, to Robert and Dorothy Lawrence Allen.
Cynthia graduated from Rock Island High School in 1966, then attended Marycrest University, Davenport. She worked for John Deere Co. in the human resources department of the Harvester Works, and retired in 1999. After retiring and prior to relocating to Cape Coral in 2004, she was a travel agent for the Travel Business, Moline. She found her real niche in Ft. Myers, where she worked in retail clothing for Chico's Fashions.
She loved traveling, shopping and having lunch with the girls.
Cynthia is survived by husband, Robert "Bob" Petersmith, Cape Coral; son, Matthew "Matt" Petersmith, Silvis; father, Robert Allen, Rock Island; sister, Christine Rote, Eureka, Mo.; brother, Mark Allen, Rock Island; several nieces and nephews who she held very dear. She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy Allen, and three very special nephews.
